Concrete Sidewalks & Walkways in the Chicagoland Area
A front walk is the path every guest, delivery and buyer takes to your door, and a cracked or heaved one is the first thing they notice. We pour new walkways and replace failed ones — front walks, side paths, routes to the garage or the back yard, and the landings that connect them to steps.
Width and shape are worth a conversation. A walk wide enough for two people to pass, with a landing that widens at the steps, costs very little extra and makes the whole entry feel considered.

What makes the difference
Joints on purpose
Evenly spaced control joints are the difference between a walk that ages well and one that looks broken after two winters.
Edges and transitions
Clean, tooled edges hold up better to shovels and snowblowers than a sharp, untooled corner does.
Width where it counts
A wider landing at the door and a gentle flare at the drive make an ordinary walk feel like part of the house.
Serving the greater Chicagoland area
Why walks heave here, and what stops it
Walkways are thinner than driveways, which makes them the first thing in a yard to show frost movement. When water sits under a narrow slab and freezes, it lifts it — and once two sections no longer line up, you have a trip hazard that only gets worse each winter.
The fix is in the preparation: strip the soft material out, compact what is left, keep the slab draining away from the house, and place joints at sensible intervals so the slab can move without breaking. Where a walk meets a step, a driveway or a public sidewalk, the transition gets detailed deliberately rather than being left to chance.
