Concrete Steps & Curved Borders in the Chicagoland Area

Steps are the most used and most unforgiving concrete on a property. Risers that are not even, treads that pitch the wrong way, or an edge that has started to spall are both a daily annoyance and a genuine safety problem. We pour new steps and stoops, replace failing ones, and build the landings that connect them to a walk or a patio.

Decorative curves are the other half of this page. A curved border along a driveway, a flared edge where a walk meets the drive, or a banded edge around a patio is a small amount of extra forming that changes how finished the whole property looks.

What we cover

Steps & Curves We Take On

  • New steps, stoops and landings
  • Replacement of cracked or settled steps
  • Steps tying a patio or walk to the house
  • Decorative curved borders and edging
  • Flared transitions between walks and drives
  • Tooled, finished edges throughout

What makes the difference

  • Consistent risers

Every riser in a flight is formed to the same height. That is what makes a set of steps feel safe underfoot.

  • Edges that survive shovels

Tooled, finished edges and corners hold up to winter maintenance far better than sharp, untreated ones.

  • Curves are formed, not cut

A smooth decorative curve comes from the formwork. It is extra time at the start of the job and it shows for the life of the slab.

Even risers, solid edges, and water that runs off

Steps take the worst of a Chicagoland winter: they are shoveled, salted, and they hold standing water on every flat surface unless they are built not to. A tread that pitches very slightly forward sheds meltwater instead of letting it sit and freeze — a small detail you only notice when it is missing.

Even risers matter just as much. People climb steps without looking, and a single riser a half-inch out of step with the others is what catches a toe. Getting that right is a forming job, done before anyone mixes concrete.
